The HEC-HMS model was used to evaluate the farm ponds in the water catchment areas of Neili, Lunshan, Dapo, and the Anyexi and Chaoyong Rivers. The investigation also cooperated with detailed survey operations to screen 76 farm ponds for flood detention potential and to estimate their inflow. The peak reduction
rate in the 50-year return period was determined to be 83%, and the peak delay time was determined to be 27%. The
peak reduction rate has increased significantly, indicating that farm ponds offer considerable potential for flood detention and disaster prevention. They can be regarded as a possible solution for the general dispersal of flood runoff and for reducing the impact of future natural disasters.
