AbstractGeomorphometry is widely used in topographic characteristic interpretation. However, the interpretation of some subtle topographic characteristics by using the multidirectional analysis window method is difficult. Therefore, this study attempted to use the unidirectional analysis window method to calculate the slope and surface openness of grids in the research area and to compare the analysis results with those of the multidirectional analysis window method. In addition, we set the threshold values of the aforementioned two factors according to topographic characteristics to extract the feature line. Unidirectional analysis window, which is perpendicular to the direction of topographic characteristics, produces better extraction results than multidirectional analysis window. Furthermore, the results
showed that the threshold values of the slope and surface openness affected the continuity of the feature line and the
amount of noise point, respectively.
